It’s creating an experience that counts…

The festive season is just around the corner with the number of corporate party gatherings about to soar as December arrives. But what are party organiser’s looking for in a market where belts are tightened and budgets stretched?

The good news is, that both individuals and companies alike are still spending in hotels, bars and restaurants. According to the Visa June 2017 Consumer Index the figures are up 9.1% between April 2016 – April 2017. In other business sectors Recreation and Culture and Clothing and Footwear the increase has been marginal with 2.8% and 2.2% respectively. However, offering food alone is not necessarily considered enough, guests want better value and are keen to enjoy an ‘experience’ to remember and share.

Guests want to be part of an event, providing an element of escapism, a chance to share in a feeling of belonging and  well-being with a community of like minded revelers. Some venues are offering themes such as, Las Vegas with casino tables,or Karaoke pods, Mobile Cocktail making, possibly the Wild West with line dancing or a Mexican Fiesta.

These are particularly attractive to the Millennials (under 35’s) as they create instant opportunities, an experience worth sharing and special memories. As a result they will take images which are part of their lives which they share across social media. These in turn speak a thousand words and capture the imagination of future potential guests.

Creating these experiences takes imagination and attention to detail. The theme has to be portrayed across all areas from the decor, service style, food and drink menus, to the most important element of all the staff. To be successful the staff must be trained and fully on board with the theme in order to create that perfect atmosphere and experience.
