Although currently located a few miles from Manchester it would be wrong of me not to mention my home city – Birmingham!
At present it too is undergoing substantial investment in a number of exciting new developments. These include the Paradise in the city centre and Eastside only a few minutes walk away in the ‘Knowledge Quarter’, named after the numerous universities in the area. Eastside is at the heart of the arts and culture of the city, boasting many street art projects and unique galleries. Yet it is accessible to the rail networks, with the new £600m New Street station a short distance away. It is to be complemented in September this year by the opening of the Aloft hotel.
The Aloft hotel describes itself as ‘ Think stylish with a touch of cool. Professionalism with a touch of fun’ and follows a theme of combining innovations for the future with iconic industrial heritage. It offers, 195 guestrooms, a gym, Wxyz Cocktail Bar and Tempo! Restaurant. The event space in the adjacent Eastside Rooms has been designed with flexibility and versatility in mind. The Affinity Suite is the largest pillar free ballroom in Birmingham at 880 metres squared. There are also a further two suites, the Belmont and Ashstead which can accommodate over 200 guests each and then an additional 14 meeting rooms over two floors able to seat between 10 -58 delegates. Coffee Stations are available on each floor and the latest AV technology is available in all of our meeting rooms. This includes clickshare, plasma screens, projectors and high speed Wi-Fi.
